We're going to the zoo...
Come along and support Pam! On Sunday, 17 May 2026
We'd love to meet you at the brilliant Colchester Zoo to support Pam who has been training hard to take on the 10k event. She'll be joined by Anna, her communicator guide, because Pammie [the gorgeous Guide Dog] might not be comfortable with Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffes and Zebras on the day. Note: the above picture is not actually Pammie in her PJs, and Pam won't be participating with a Guide Tiger on the day!
Pam, originally from Alabama in the US, has been a strong supporter of the Stickler Syndrome UK charity and has been a familiar figure at many past conferences arranged by Wendy and Conrad over the years. Her last conference attendance was in September 2024 in Cambridge where we got to meet the lovely 'Pammie'.
Like many people, Pam didn't get the diagnosis of Stickler syndrome until she was in her 40s, despite enduring lots of symptoms from a young age with eyesight, hearing and early-onset arthritis. It's such a familiar story for so many people and Pam wants to help make sure that people get that earlier pathway to diagnosis and understanding and support for their individual challenges.
When you meet Pam, you meet someone who has gone through these challenges and taken them on with an incredible senses of positivity, raising a family with a wonderful sense of humour and an infectious smile.
You can come along and enjoy the viewing of the event from the Event Village with lots of activities for all the family before and after the event. Costumes not obligatory, the real thing is already there, but by all means add to your day with some creative input.
And you can find out a little more about Pam's 10k challenge at her Just Giving page.
If you also want to visit the zoo...
Friends & Family members can also visit the Zoo on the day but tickets have to be booked in advance at Colchester Zoo :: Ticket Selection :: Stampede Friends & Family Tickets.
It's a great day out and a lovely opportunity to come together in this area, so we'd love to see you there.
